Long overdue update
One of the odd things about blogging is that because it is so easy to post something it is also easy to put off posting until (much) later. On a blog like this one, it seems like it is particularly easy to default to a "no news is good news position." Having said that, I still can't believe it has been two and half months since my last entry; and it isn't like nothing has changed over that time...
Since mid-March I made three additional trips to the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda as we continued to monitor my tumor site and shifted into a Phase II clinical trial for Sutent, a promising new chemotherapy agent for at least some glioblastomas. Unfortunately, Sutent didn't prove especially effective for me and, as a side effect, it was elevating my blood pressure to dangerous levels so my participation in that trial has ended. Renewed tumor growth has convinced my team of doctors that a second craniotomy is in order and that has been scheduled for next Tuesday morning in Fargo. A couple weeks later I will start another round of chemotherapy, this time with Avastin. Based on my recovery time from my initial surgery last fall, I am still hoping to attend our benefit party on June 5th (though that might be cutting it bit close). By the way, special thanks to those of you working on the benefit...should be a great time!
Easter weekend we made a family trip to Florida to visit Bruce, Michelle, and Ryan. We did some intra-coastal and surf fishing, watched a shuttle launch, and spent a lot of time at the beach. James, Ryan, and I also had a chance to interact with with the dolphins at the Dolphin Conservation Center. Pretty amazing experience and much more memorable than I really expected.

James and I also made a BWCA trip with the 'old guys' last week and had a great time. Unbelievable mid-May weather, swimming, great food, fishing, and friends. Thanks to Jack Shelton's tireless tilling yesterday, our garden is ready is plant so that is on my agenda for today. Time to get on it. More news sooner (rather than later). /dps

Mr. Siems,
I read the article about you in the paper this morning.
I wonder if you might be open to exploring a spiritual approach to healing. I believe the same power to heal that existed when Jesus walked the earth exists today.
This is the kind of healing that can lead to wholeness.
This is not meant to preach, rather to share.
If open to dialogue, contact me at heheals@hotmail.com.
Whatever you decide, may peace rest upon you.

Dann~ I don't have a clue what to say, I'll be honest. However, I love James and I enjoyed getting to know you and Lenore through being his childcare provider. Your family is very special to me. I appreciated your sense of humor in today's Pioneer front page article. Only one thing, I wish you were a theist again. Hey~ you brought it up so I feel okay about commenting. Yes, you would have someone to be angry at, but you would also have someone to look forward to meeting someday. And, to me, that idea sounds much better than the alternative: the absence of experience. You are in my thoughts constantly these days. I really like your blog, I'm happy I found it. I'm gonna pray for you on Tuesday, whether you like it or not. ;o) Lots of love and good wishes sent your way!

Dear Dann, I saw about your case and you probably have a lot of suggestions to help you, but I ran across this site http://www.mamaherb.com/Treatments/List.aspx?page=0&sortByOption=Last+Added&filterByOption=SpecificConditionFamily&id=25&
concerning natural remedies that have helped a few. I agree with Michael Verdugo (heheals@hotmail.com); I believe in the same healing by Jesus also and I have been healed by Him before. And I don't mean to preach either, but I know I had that experience before. Perhaps you can contact Michael or me (Resta - restacheng@gmail.com). God Bless You!! I also will be praying for you!!

Thanks for the update. For the record, I found your comment in the paper (absence of experience) rather comforting. Hope all goes well today. I look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

Dann,
We're all looking forward to your event tomorrow. It was humbling to see the crew assembled at Jammers as they organized for the event. We're hoping you will be able to join us as we celebrate. You'll be with us either in person or spirit.
Peace & love to you and your family

Dann, I hope this comment finds you feeling well. I hope your surgery went well and the fun party at Jammers, too! My mother was able to attend, but I was not. She said that tons of people were there. That's great. Just want you to know that you are in my thoughts as well as Lenore and James. Just wanted to say hello... I look forward to more posts on your blog.
Love you, Rachelle
